Mark Zuckerberg's photo of daughter getting vaccinated stirs up a debate on Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg sparked a social media debate over child vaccines after posting a photo of himself with his newborn daughter at the doctor’s office.

The image shows his daughter, Max, sitting on his lap while sporting a cute winter onesie, alongside a caption: “Doctor’s visit – time for the vaccines!”

It quickly generated more than three million likes and a long thread of comments with many weighing in on the vaccine debate.

“Vaccine is poison for human kind,” commented one Facebook user Elza Sakz. “It kills more people than it helps. I wish people don’t take this as an example here.”

Another user, Ian Humphries, wrote: “Use your head people. Every goddamn childhood illness has become an epidemic … we have the sickest children to date while everyone pushes for more and more vaccines. Do you honestly think that a beautiful healthy newborn baby needs injections of neurological-toxins to become safe for the public… really!”

Many others are thanking Zuckerberg for vaccinating his daughter.

“As a practicing pediatrician, thank you for your public support of the safety and efficacy of vaccines. As a parent, I’ll warn you for the possibility of a grumpy baby for a day or two!” Facebook user Cory Bean wrote.

Another user Sergio Cepeda commented: “Thank you for supporting vaccinations, one of the most important health care advancements in human history, which have saved hundreds of millions of lives and have saved many more from pain and suffering.”

It’s not the first time, Zuckerberg has sparked an outcry about the controversial topic.

Last year, through a Facebook post, he weighed on the debate by endorsing the non-fiction book ‘On Immunity’ by Eula Biss, which explains why vaccines are in fact effective and safe.

“Vaccination is an important and timely topic,” Zuckerberg wrote. “The science is completely clear: vaccinations work and are important for the health of everyone in our community.”
