McDonald’s customer can’t fight Big Mac hunger, goes through drive-thru on motorized gurney

Sometimes it's just not worth fighting that craving.

A man, dubbed "the most committed McDonald's customer ever," recently went through a Virginia McDonald's drive-thru on what appeared to be a motorized gurney.

Lying on his stomach, the determined fast-food fan drove the hospital bed through an intersection to get to this destination, impressing fellow fans of the Golden Arches.

A man vacationing in the area captured the scene on camera and sent the blog 22 Words the following description:

"My wife and I decided to visit Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA, on our vacation. When we got to the top of the offramp, we saw this man, completely strapped to a motorized gurney, going down the sidewalk. He went to the first intersection, crossed the street to McDonalds, and ordered his food through the drive-thru window. I would love to know his story, but whatever it is, he must LOVE McDonalds!"

Fortunately, it appears two readers did know more of the man's story.

"Not a gurney, it’s a customized power wheelchair for a person whom for whatever reason can only lay on their stomach. just someone who wants to enjoy Micky D’s like anyone else…" wrote one reader.

Another reader had served the man coffee 10 years prior at a local mall:

"He is a patient at the VA medical center. I worked at the mall that used to be in Hampton when I was in college about 10 years ago and he would somehow get there (about 8 miles or so) and go around the mall and come get coffee from us. I never asked what the nature of his injury was but I always assumed it was combat related since he is a permanent resident at the VA."

If you need a Big Mac, you need a Big Mac. Kudos to the man for not letting his mobility limitations stop him.
