After four long generations and seven boys a Post Falls, Idaho, family has finally welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their flock.

Ashton Underdahl gave birth to Aurelia Marie Ann on April 12 to break a streak of boys the Underhal family has somehow maintained for an astonishing 101 years, reports The Coeur d’Alene Press

The mother and her husband, Scott Underhal, already have a 22-month-old son named Archer, and during this pregnancy they were both rooting to go against the norm.

“Everyone has been hoping for a girl,” he said. "I didn’t know what an Underdahl girl looked like.”

Turns out the last time an Underdahl girl was born was Scott’s great aunt Bernice way back in 1914.

Aurelia’s grandfather, Conrad Underdahl, told reporters he’s delighted about the long awaited arrival of his granddaughter, who is said to have a nose resembling his very own.

“Maybe it took more than 100 years to create perfection,” he said. “She’s a cutie. We’ve been spoiling her a bit because it’s just different finally holding a baby girl.”

Adding another girl to the family tree will take some getting used. Typically boys in the Underdahl family would receive hand-me-down clothing growing up, an arrangement that obviously won’t work in little baby Aurelia’s case.

“When you walk into the girls’ clothing department it’s more overwhelming than the boys,” said Ashton.
