Five of the grossest surprises people have found in food

If you think finding a mouse in a coffee cup is just too gross, you're definitely not going to like the rest of this post.

CBC reported that a Fredericton, N.B., man found a dead mouse in the bottom of his coffee cup after he'd been drinking from it over the course of the day. Ron Morais says he took the lid off the cup to drink the last sip of coffee, and was shocked to see the small dead rodent sitting at the bottom. McDonald's says it is still investigating the incident.

Unfortunately, it's far from the first time that someone has found an unpleasant surprise in their food. We took a look at some incidents where people seriously lost their appetites.

Spider-grapes, spider-grapes...

It seemed to be an innocent case of grapes, but when a New Hampshire woman poured out the bunch into a bowl, she spotted a web in the bottom of the container, and saw a black widow climb out of the fruit. What's even scarier is that this incident, which happened on Oct. 3, is hardly the first time this has happened. It's a good reminder to check your grapes -- or any fruit -- thoroughly before you pop it in your mouth. Otherwise, you might end up chewing on something that isn't a grape at all.

That dip didn't taste toe good

A New York City man has the unfortunate infamy of being the one who found an 'animal toe' in his spinach-artichoke dip. Look up Andrew Brodsky online and you'll see the whole disgusting tale of how he bought a tub of Sabra brand dip, allegedly found the disgusting item seen above, and then sued the company, according to Gothamist. No word on what the outcome of Brodsky's lawsuit was.

If it's good enough for maggots, it's way too disgusting for me

As far as gross food finds go, maggots are relatively tame, but that doesn't make it any less disgusting when you open up your supermarket lunch to find your sandwich crawling with them. A man in Australia says he purchased a roast chicken lunch from a local supermarket, and after eating part of it, found maggots crawling over his hand. When he returned to the store, they offered him a $20 gift card.

Finger-lickin' good roast beef

Surprise fingers seems to be their own weird niche of the gross food story genre. There's been fingers found in Applebee's salads, prison meals, frozen custard and a whole saga when one woman claimed she found a finger in her Wendy's chili, and it turned out it was the finger of a husband's co-worker (the husband and wife went to jail for fraud). In 2012, a 14-year-old boy bit down on his roast beef sandwich and said he found something rubbery. When he pulled it out his mouth, it wasyou guessed ita finger. An employee had apparently injured herself on the meat slicer and left her station for treatment, but didn't think to mention to anyone that there still may be a rogue fingertip somewhere in the beef.

Speaking of finger-lickin' good...

KFP: Kentucky Fried Paper

It's not only animals that have found their way into people's food. A 7-year-old eating at KFC with his mother bit into a piece of "chicken," only to discover it was actually a deep-fried paper towel. His mother told The Daily Mail that the boy didn't eat anything for the rest of the week, having completely lost his appetite.

Hey, at least it wasn't a mouse?
