Must-See Videos of the Week: December 13

When you get angry, perhaps while driving through astonishingly thick fog or because your SUV fell in a lake, there are several ways to express yourself: Smash up a brand-new console. Watch adorable kitten-puppy videos until the rage subsides. Or my personal favourite, and the first video on our Must-See Videos this week, pretend you’re in the video game Mario Kart, where you can take out the other drivers with banana peels. Enjoy!

It’s a-me! A real Mario! In this stop-motion video, 3D artists Olivier Bolduc and Simon Lachapelle re-create the experience of playing Mario Kart 64 – except they recruited their co-workers to be Mario and Luigi. The Quebec artists shot and directed the film while Étienne Desbois and Louka Boutin race to avoid those dreaded bananas.

In this time-lapse video, you can see the city of London, England engulfed in a sea of fog, which occurred on the morning of Dec. 11. Visibility was reduced to 50 metres in some places, making for treacherous driving conditions and numerous flight cancellations. If you look closely, you can see the famed O2 Arena poking out in the middle of the shot.

Public service announcement: If you’re one of the first people to get a brand-new console, there’s no need to rub it in by smashing up a perfectly good PS4 in front of a crowd of people waiting to get their own. I’m sure this gentleman in Montreal had to ask himself post-smashing, was it really worth it for the YouTube fame?

All that snow and ice in Russia can lead to some seriously treacherous driving conditions, especially if you’ve got an SUV. Watch this group of people manage to lift the fallen vehicle out of Lake Baikal without any power equipment; only some wood, rope and ingenuity.

This fight has to be one of the most adorable battles in the history of inter-animal battles. A five-month-old Beagle (presumably named Milo, judging from the admonitions of the person recording) and a two-month-old Himalayan kitten battle it out for cuteness domination in this short video.
