Must-see videos of the week – March 15

This has to be one of the coolest punishments ever caught on camera! Nice acting skills!

From an incredibly elusive animal captured on film twice this month in Alberta to some tough fights with icicles in Saskatchewan, we've seen some great videos this week. Here are some of our favourites:

1. Dad pretends to punch toddler

If any child advocates thought this video was real they would probably be up in arms right now, but just like a Hollywood fight scene, the punches aren't real. Either that or this is the toughest toddler ever.

2. Lynx put on a show in Lake Louise

A Parks Canada conservation officer captured a female lynx as she stared at her reflection in a Lake Louise window. Parks staff say the mother may have thought it was another animal that may have been a threat. The lynx is a very elusive and reclusive animal, but has been putting on a show this past winter. Two were also seen last month and photographed. Staff believe the cats are taking advantage of the increased local snowshoe hare population.

3. Stunt man jumps over speeding Lamborghini

If I were this stunt man, only one thing would be going through my mind as the car sped toward me: "I'm going to die." Good thing I'm not a stunt man. This guy did a barrel roll over the car as it drove under him, then a back flip to celebrate. He's not the first to jump over a car. NBA star Kobe Bryant jumped over an Aston Martin in 2008 without doing any sort of flip or roll — although many people speculate the video is fake.

4. Saskatoon brings heat to defeat giant icicle

Saskatoon has had some issues with icicles, but luckily the fire department has a nice arsenal of tools to get rid of them. This past week they started at the top with hot water and melted a three-storey icicle estimated to weigh more than 1,000 kilograms. This one was particularly challenging because it was draped over electrical wires on the outside of the apartment building. One found earlier in March that hung down from a three-storey building was slowly taken down with a chain saw.

5. Church pays for to avoid devilish bill

A church in Missouri was hoping to put on a small addition, but when they received the permit fees there was an issue. The permit fees totaled $666. Well, there was no way the church was going to pay the amount, which is commonly used as a symbol for the devil. So the pastor asked city hall to pay an extra dollar. They naturally allowed this, but it may all be for naught because the city often waives building permit fees anyways.
