Must-see videos of the week – March 30

From men sleeping with a python and a tiger to others rescuing a sick porpoise, we've seen some great videos this week. Here are some of our favourites:

1. Man immediately regrets buying stolen python

Buying a TV out of the back of some guy's van can be risky, but buying a python in this manner will probably be considerably more dicey. The worst the TV can do is not work. The worst the snake can do is kill you.

Dwayne Matthews, 29, of England found out his lesson the hard way. He was at a house party when a van pulled up selling snakes. Matthews, who admitted to being drunk at the time and being egged on by his drunk friends, purchased the snake. He planned to sell it at a later date. The next morning he woke to see the 10-foot long animal wrapped around his friend.

"He got up to find one of his friends asleep on the sofa and this snake rearing up at him in a S-shape, its jaws open like a cobra," he said in a UPI article. Matthews managed to get the snake into a tank. He then tried to sell the snake, and that's when he learned it was stolen. The snake was eventually returned to its owner and Matthews received an eight-week suspended sentence and a small fine.

2. Man sleeps with pet tiger

While the man in the above story realized what a bad idea it was to sleep near a python, this man doesn't seem to mind sleeping with a tiger. The man seems to be pretty good at keeping the tiger calm, but we wonder if the dogs are scared or just jealous of the attention the tiger gets. This man isn't alone in this dangerous activities. Abdullah Sholeh, a 31-year-old Indonesian man has formed quite the bond with his tiger Mulan and sleeps, plays and fights with him. But tigers are wild animals and can be dangerous. Just yesterday one attacked and seriously injured a zookeeper in Quebec.

3. Rescued porpoise helped at Vancouver Aquarium

From animals trying to kill humans to humans trying to save an animal. Staff at the Vancouver Aquarium were made aware of a stranded porpoise on a rock off Vancouver Island Tuesday night. They are now trying to nurse it back to health. It can't swim on its own and is in a specially-designed sling so it can stay afloat. The aquarium says historically porpoises in this situation only have about a 10 per cent chance of making it, but they have had success in the past few years. If the animal can recover, it'll be released back into the wild.

4. Destructive landslide threatens homes in Washington State

A massive landslide struck an island north of Seattle Wednesday night knocking one house from its foundation and threatening others. One house lost approximately 25 metres of backyard in the slide that was about half a kilometre across. Geologists and engineers are assessing the stability of the area and it remains unstable.

5. North Korea threatens U.S. with propaganda video

Even though the worst-case scenario is quite dangerous, it's hard not to laugh at the North Korean propaganda videos. The latest video shows North Korean troops invading South Korea and taking thousands of Americans who live there hostage. But they are set over a rather upbeat soundtrack and are edited by someone who has been using an editing software for what appears no more than three days. Michael Bay films are considerably more convincing and we know they are fake.
