Must-see videos of the week – September 14

From a real bird's-eye view courtesy of a seagull stealing a camera to a massive Canadian QR code corn maze, we've seen some fascinating footage this week. Here are some of our favourite videos:

1. Seagull takes camera for flight

If you've ever wondered what a bird's-eye view is actually like check out this video. A seagull in San Francisco picked up a camera and took it for a ride. The woman, a tourist from France, was filming the sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge when the bird yanked the camera. She managed to track it down on a nearby sidewalk and found it was still intact and had about 20 seconds of new footage. According to Yahoo!'s Trending Now blog, some are saying the video is a fake and could be part of a marketing hoax.

This isn't the first time we've got a good view of what animals see. Last year a seagull pulled the same move, grabbing a camera and flying through the French city of Cannes. And shortly before that, a photographer in Africa was hoping to get a live action shot of three lionesses so he put his camera in their path. Instead of walking past the camera, one of the lionesses picked up the camera, put it in her mouth and went for a walk, giving us a unique view of the South African grasslands.

2. Bullied bus monitor gets even

Torontonian Max Sidorov initially launched an online fundraising campaign to raise a few thousand dollars for Karen Klein, the woman bullied by kids while working as a bus monitor. His effort ended up raising more than $700,000 and he presented her with the cheque on Tuesday.

It's just been wonderful," she said at a news conference. "I've enjoyed meeting lots of nice people, and I hope that kids learn from what happened to me."

Her story went viral when a video was posted online of grade seven boys making fun of Klein on a bus. Since then, Klein has been all over the U.S. for TV and radio appearances including The Today Show. She plans to donate some of the money to organizations that work with special needs kids and possibly take a vacation.

3. One World Trade Center time-lapse shows progress

Tuesday marked 11 years since the two World Trade Center buildings in New York City came crashing down and in the past 11 years a lot has changed in Lower Manhattan. Construction began on One World Trade Center (formerly known as Freedom tower) in February 2010 and new time-lapse video shows the progress in the past two and a half years. It is already the tallest building in New York and when finished it'll be 1776 feet tall and the third tallest building in the world. The tower is supposed to be completed in 2013.

4. QR code corn maze

An Alberta farmer made what is possibly the largest Quick Response code in the world out of a field of corn. The Kraay family decided to add a technological twist to the maze they make every year when they were reading magazines and noticed the designs look like mazes. So they contacted their maze designer and began the process. When one scans the code it takes him or her to the family farm website, which showcases mini golf, a chicken show and a pig race. The Kraay family received a Guinness World Record certificate for the 29,000 square-metre creation.

5. Crazy man bites cobra

After engaging in some sort of dance with the deadly animal, the man puts his whole mouth right over the cobras head and bites down. He isn't the only person to bite a cobra in the past few weeks. A Nepali man bit one to death in revenge after the snake bit him.
