1. Robot teacher knows math and can dance

The NAO robot may look and sound cute, but this little piece of amazing machinery is actually helping kids with math and science in the classroom. When the work is done, NAO will even bust a move to the latest tunes.

2. New Yorkers get up close and personal with a humpback whale

Three humpback whales were captured feeding off a beach in Queen's, New York, not far from shore. Bobby Leonard, his father and brother were out at sea when they witnessed this amazing feeding frenzy.

3. $2M cheque found on Madrid subway

A wallet was found wedged into a door on a Madrid subway car that contained a cheque for an amount most of us will never see in our lifetimes: $2 million. Authorities know the man's name from his California driver's license and think the wallet may have been snatched by a thief who was unaware of its valuable contents.

4. Two pilots fall asleep at the same time in mid-air

Officials say two British pilots from an undisclosed airline fell asleep at the same time, after engaging the autopilot two hours after takeoff. The pilots reported the incident themselves, which occurred on August 13, and blamed longer shifts for their dual slumbers.

5. Girl’s letter prompts Bratz dolls maker to create custom dolls

Angelina Giani, an eight-year-old girl from Florida wrote a letter to the maker of Bratz dolls, saying that none of them actually looked like her. She even included drawings of herself, and four weeks later, the company sent her three custom dolls bearing her likeness. Angelina hopes to one day see the custom dolls on toy store shelves.
