Oklahoma teacher allegedly tells preschooler his left hand is “evil”

A four-year-old boy was kept from school on Monday because his mother was concerned after he was told writing with his left hand is “evil.”

Oklahoma native Alisha Sands was appalled with an article she received from her son Zayde’s teacher last week, which called left-handedness “unlucky” and “evil,” she tells Oklahoma’s KFOR news.

While the young boy was doing homework last week, Alisha noticed he was writing with his right hand, instead of his natural left, which she is as well.

“I just asked ‘is there anything his teachers ever asked about his hands?’ And he raises this one and says this one’s bad,” Sands tells KFOR.

This prompted Sands to write to Zayde’s teacher, with his teacher responding with the article.

Sands tells KFOR that it’s heartbreaking to think that someone actually believes her child is evil because of the hand he writes with.

She went to the superintendent with the article, but no action was taken towards the teacher.

KFOR tried to get in touch for a comment and spoke with the principal at Oakes Elementary, who said they were aware of the situation and the district is investigating.
