Persian cat sneaks into luggage, takes six-hour flight

When Bisou the Persian cat climbed into her owner's luggage for a nap, she probably didn't expect to wake up 5, 400 kilometres away from home.

But that's exactly what happened, according to the Telegraph. The cat's owner, Mervat Ciuti, said she was packing bags in her home near Cairo, Egypt, for a trip to visit her sister in the U.K. when the cat must have slipped inside a suitcase.

She zipped up the bag without noticing, hopped into a cab and headed to the airport.

The cat survived the flight in the luggage hold, undiscovered by security, and her owner didn't find her until she had landed in Nottinghamshire, U.K. While sitting in a taxi, Ciuti received a call from back home saying Bisou was missing.

She told the driver to pull over and look inside the bag, afraid the cat had died during the flight, according to Mike Binks, the owner of Calagran Quarantine Kennels where Bisou is staying now.

In a video by SWNS, Binks holds a calm but grumpy-looking Bisou while telling her story and explaining that she's under quarantine for a few months as per U.K. regulations for importing animals.

Binks says the cat is going back to Egypt once her quarantine is over. He said this is the first time he's seen an animal sneak into a suitcase and survive a flight.

Bisou is not the only stowaway feline to survive such an adventure. A 14-month-old kitten accidentally took a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida this fall after crawling into his owner's suitcase, according to ABC News.
