Police ask ‘Breaking Bad’ viewers not to call 911 over cable outage

Watching Breaking Bad and having your cable go out does not qualify as 911 emergency.

At least that's the message police in Connecticut are trying to get out after cops in the city of Fairfield received numerous calls following an outage that hit parts of the state on Sunday night.

The message on the department's Facebook page says the outage is "neither an emergency nor a police related concern."

The post warns that 911 should be used for life-threatening emergencies only and misuse of the 911 system may result in an arrest.

Cablevision said in a statement shortly after 11 p.m. that there was a commercial power outage in its Norwalk facility. It says, "the power matter has been resolved and service has been restored to our customers."

In other 911 news, a Florida woman recently called the emergency number to complain about being ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt - while the police officer was writing the ticket.

London, UK firefighters are also asking would-be lovers to use some common sense before acting-out scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey, announcing they have responded to 79 incidents involving handcuffs.
