Russian ‘duck whisperer’ orders ducks to walk in order, they obey

A Russian farmer has been getting some attention online for a video of him ordering a large group of ducks to enter the barn.

And they obey him.

The "pied piper of ducks" yells a few commands at the ducks – Mashable suspects he says, "Last one to the barn gets to be my dinner" – and they scurry into an organized group, waddling quickly into the barn as a single unit. No stragglers here.

(If you can translate the farmer's orders, please do so in the comments.)

The video has been viewed more than 3 million times since it was uploaded on August 2.

"Wow! He really has his ducks in a row…." wrote Kathleen Gapud, a YouTube viewer.

How do you train a duck?

"The same way you teach any animal," wrote Reddit user SensibleDictator. "By giving them something good (food), and associate it with a sound/gesture/etc."

"Can confirm. I called my small flock of 5 hens 'chickies' from the time I got them, then continued to do so every time I fed them. Then when they were big hens, all I had to do to round them up was yell 'chickies' and pretty soon I'd have a small army of hens following me everywhere," added Reddit user TheKinkMaster.

This duckling assumed a cat was its mother and followed her wherever she went.

In May, "lucky duck" Buttercup received a new 3D-printed prosthetic foot. Watch Buttercup waddle for joy below.

It seems like a good day to revisit this jazzy cover of the DuckTales theme song.
