Shelf topples, creates a liquor tsunami in viral video

A shelf of liquor bottles crashes down in a recent viral video.

An employee's liquor inventory went badly wrong in this viral video of unknown provenance, which shows the worker fiddling with bottles before the entire shelf tumbles in a wave of booze.

The staff member crouches down, moving bottles, writes on a notepad and then stands up, looking up and down the shelf as two women choose what to buy. They would have had to select their bottle from a puddle on the floor after what happened next.

The shelf topples forward as one of the women and the worker shove their arms forward to stop it but quickly find themselves standing in a small sea of liquid, a dark red blob pooling near another nearby shelf. The video has hundreds of thousands of views since it was uploaded to LiveLeak and reports describe it as CCTV footage, though the camera is shaky and the description doesn't say where it was filmed.

The Telegraph reported no one is thought to have been injured.

A liquor store in Wisconsin released similar footage showing a devastating waste of wine in 2011. ABC News reported a shelf collapse at Superior Discount Liquor in Sheboygan created a domino of other shelves toppling, smashing 6,810 bottles and leaving more than an inch of wine on the floor.

The store owners told ABC News the wine spilled out of the front and back doors, staining several people's feet red.
