Six-year-old struggles to figure out voicemail, phone with buttons

Did you ever use a rotary phone growing up?

If you did, you know how fun it is to select a number and go round the circle for each individual digit you input.

Well, a little girl in a new viral video is basically doing the equivalent, but instead of using a rotary dialer, she’s just trying to leave a voicemail for her dad.

In the clip, we find Catalina Shoate’s six-year-old daughter frantically trying to relay a message to her father about a “Lego emergency” involving her younger brother.

According to the youngster, her brother’s piggy Lego set broke, and dad needs to come home this instant to fix the problem.

It looks like this young girl is also having some trouble using a home phone (who even uses landlines anymore?), judging by the way she’s speaking into the ear piece and not even holding the handset to her head.

After the voicemail prompts her to start over, she has no idea what to do when asked to “press 1″ to start over. Oh, those tricky smartphones. What do you mean phones used to have buttons?

But hey, voicemail can be complicated, and we’ve all had a terrible experience with some cheeky friend opening their voicemail with that “Hey!…….. I’m actually not here” bit.

Skip to the end to see the relief in on her face after finally sending the message and conquering tricky old technology.
