Spider catches snake in web, liquefies it with venom, then drinks it

Where else in the world would you find a poisonous spider attack a deadly snake in your very own garage? Australia, of course!

Paul and Bernadette Gibs discovered just that when they stumbled upon a female redback spider’s large web and found a juvenile eastern brown snake stuck to it.

This is may seem familiar. An Australian man was able to catch a similar spectacle in his backyard about a month ago involving another brown snake and a daddy-long-legs spider, though he was only able to capture a photograph.

Bernadette was able to shoot some footage of the snake in her garage, which you can watch in this video uploaded by “Maria Green”:

According to The Daily Mail, after struggling with the web and unable to get free, the snake was later liquefied with the spider’s powerful venom. And yes, the spider did then drink the snake.

The Gibbses are used to this sort of thing. Their home is situated near the Hunter River in Morpeth, which is a natural habitat for all these deadly creatures.

Neither Bernadette Gibbs or the children in the background seem all the phased by the two deadly animals. Yet another typical day in the Outback.
