Street View selfie: Mississauga, Ont., man tracks the Google car for a perfect pic

As Google roams the earth, mapping out streets with photographs so we can all nostalgically tour places we've been or explore places we haven't gone, many people have ended up immortalized on Street View doing all kinds of odd things.

(Some deliberately, some inadvertently.)

So it was only a matter of time before someone ended up on Street View taking a selfie. And of the Street View car, no less.

Nasr Bitar of Mississauga, Ont., was driving home last autumn when he spotted the car with the big camera on the roof and decided he had to commemorate the occasion.

He told PetaPixel.com that he started following it until he picked up on its pattern, going through small crescents before returning to Churchill Meadows Blvd. He says he realized it was "my time to shine," so he drove ahead, parked and set up on a boulevard where he expected the car to pass by.

Sure enough, the Google car rolled past behind him, and he got the selfie you see above.

That was months ago. But a few weeks ago, he was using Google Maps and noticed that several of the photos have been updated, so he pulled up the intersection where he took his pic. Sure enough, there he was.

Not only had he taken a picture of the Google Street View car, the Google Street View car had taken a picture of him.

He posted the two pictures to his Instagram account with the hashtags #DontYouWishYouHadMyLife, #Fame and #Success which may have been a slight overstatement  and it quickly took off.

In the two days since it was posted to the image-sharing site imgur, it's been viewed nearly three million times.

A lot of people can find themselves through Google, but Nasr Bitar has the rare ability to find himself on Google Maps.
