One music fan has decided to try and buy the ultimate piece of rock and roll memorabilia - by launching a fundraiser to purchase Dave Grohl.

The Go Fund Me campaign titled “Help Me Purchase Dave Grohl” was set up by Texas radio host Frank Pain to raise $35,000 in an effort to acquire the lead singer of the Foo Fighters and former Nirvana drummer, reports the BBC.

So far, the campaign has raised just over $500 dollars, but Pain’s intentions are something most rock fans could relate to.

“I’m his biggest fan and figured I can round up enough scratch to purchase him so we can hang out and high five and shit,” he writes. “Heck, I may give him a bro-hug or two as well.”

It appears Pain has yet to work out the finer details on how he’ll actually secure the purchase of Grohl, but that certainly isn’t stopping him from trying.

“I’m not even sure if it’s legal to purchase another human being without being some central part of a 20/20 tv special. But, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try, right?”

Pain’s original back up plan if he couldn’t buy Grohl was to spend the money on beer “because Dave seems like the kind of person that would want me to drink beer,” but since gaining media attention for his stunt he’s decided to focus his efforts on a more noble cause.

“In short, I did this as a joke - merely to distract everyone from all the divisiveness that’s rampant on social media,” he wrote on an update to the fundraiser page.

“I never thought anyone would donate to this. Now that you have, I assure you, I won’t keep the money for beer.”

Pain plans to donate all proceeds earned to the charity Autism Speaks, because, he says, that’s what Dave Grohl would do.

Rock on.
