‘Sweat Machine’ turns your gym shirt into a glass of water

A UNICEF branch in Sweden wants you to take a nice, refreshing gulp of sweat.

Actually, those who try out the Sweat Machine, a development by a public relations agency, UNICEF and an engineer, won't be swallowing sweat but the water extracted from it.

The creation is part of a public awareness campaign about the 780 million people worldwide without access to clean water, according to the BBC.

The machine squeezes sweat of clothes and then heats, filters and purifies it to leave behind nothing but the water, according to Discovery News. The PR Agency Deportivo posted a photo of Kim Källström, a football player on Sweden's national team, donating a sweaty shirt to make some water.

Watch the sweat machine hard at work and see the clear water that pours out at the end.

However, the chief executive of Deportivo told the BBC the sweat machine isn't efficient enough to become widespread when options such as water purifying pills could do a better job.

Discovery News reported the idea came from NASA's system to recycle urine, sweat and other water for astronauts on the International Space Station.
