Teen sneaks past sleeping security to take pictures atop World Trade Center

If there was ever a building you might not want to be doing any monkey business around, it’s probably the World Trade Center in New York City. They don’t take lightly to trespassers, especially after the 9/11 tragedy that claimed the lives of 2,753 people.

But a 16-year-old boy named Justin Casquejo snuck past security in the middle of the night on Thursday and climbed to the top of 1 World Trade Center to take pictures.

Gawker reports that the teen slipped through a gap in a barbed-wire fence at the site’s construction zone where he entered the tower and convinced an unsuspecting elevator operator to allow him up to the 88th floor.

But it gets better.

The boy’s next obstacle to get past was on the 104th floor, where a sleeping security guard sat peacefully dreaming.

He walked right past the sleeping beauty and straight up to the roof, where he stayed for 2 hours photographing the city.

When Casquejo was finally finished his photo-shoot, he was caught by a construction worker who spotted him on his way back down. Busted!

According to The Huffington Post, Joe Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York, says Casquejo was arrested on Sunday at 6 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass. Authorities seized his cell phone and camera, so we may never see the actual photos of his little stunt.

Casquejo doesn’t seem affected by the charge, though. He tweeted “Inspired” a few days after the incident occurred. When contacted by the New York Post, he actually laughed about the whole thing.
