Tennessee Red Lobster waitress finds racist note from a customer on bill

A waitress in Tennessee has become viral news after she posted a picture of a racial slur on a receipt, along with a sarcastic comment about the joys of living in the south.

Toni Christina Jenkins, a waitress at Red Lobster in the Nashville area, posted a picture (contains graphic language) of a receipt from the restaurant with the words "None Ni**er," scrawled onto the lines for the tip and total.

"This is what I got as a tip last night...so happy to live in the proud southern states..God Bless America, land of the free and home of the low class racists of Tennessee," she posted alongside the photo.

The Daily Mail reported Jenkins, who is a part-time waitress and nursing student, was shocked at the viral explosion that came next.

"It's all very surprising to me. When I posted it I thought it might get a few 'likes' from friends and family. People praying for me, that kind of thing. I didn't think it would escalate this quickly," she told MailOnline.

The post was shared on Reddit and covered by news organizations in several countries. However, some online commenters are suggesting Jenkins might have written in the slur herself because the writing looks different than the signature on the receipt.

Jenkins posted on Sunday that she was being "harassed about the validity of the receipt," and she would no longer respond to any messages about it.

Last year, a Papa John's receipt went viral after an employee described a customer as "lady chinky eyes" in the computer system, then printed out the receipt with the racial slur and handed it to the woman.
