New threat stalking Illinois bars: The ‘Miley Cyrus Gang’

They came in like a wrecking ball.

The newest Miley Cyrus Gang of Illinois, that is.

According to Gawker, Illinois is home to a new gang; a group of three men called the Miley Cyrus Gang.

Why are they called the Miley Cyrus gang, you ask? Well, before they pick their fights, they supposedly “start talking about Miley Cyrus."

The gang, consisting of Daniel Lahey, 26, Robert Krapil, 27, and Ryan Elliot, 27, apparently began to spout racial slurs at a Mexican man before attacking him and his girlfriend at a bar in Joliet earlier this week.

According to Donnie Rice, a victim who had only tried to intervene, says that the attack was unprovoked.

“There was a racial slur about him being a Mexican and he (was) drinking a Corona beer and that he should be drinking American beer instead,” said Rice of the attack. He added that they “told him to go over and sit over at the other end of the bar with all of the other Mexicans.”

Rice confirmed that the gang said something about Miley Cyrus before attacking the Hispanic man and his girlfriend.

“I was just trying to protect one of the guys and the girl getting beat up and then they just switched from beating that guy and the girl up to me,” said Rice. The Miley Cyrus gang gave Rice a pair of black eyes just for trying to stand up for the couple.

According to Rice, he stepped in when he saw that the gang had officially knocked out the Hispanic man.

“He was knocked out and they were still kicking him in the face and stepping on the back of his head and still hitting him, kicking him while he was down,” said Rice.

Lahey, Krapil and Elliot of the Miley Cyrus Gang were only charged with misdemeanor battery for their vicious, unprovoked attack.

Rice, who spoke with a detective after the attack, stressed that these racially motivated beatings warranted stronger charges. Especially since the three men allegedly picked a similar fight last weekend after talking about Miley Cyrus and no charges were laid.

The Miley Cyrus Gang strikes again.
