Trudeau’s cabinet and baby skills lands him on Vogue’s unconventionally sexy list

“Sexy, feminist, and capable of balancing a baby on one hand: Prime Minister Trudeau gets our vote.”

Every year, People magazine releases their issue devoted to celebrating the ‘sexiest men alive.’

The #1 man is usually a mainstream celebrity, known mainly for his good looks, and this year it was soccer star and doting father David Beckham.

But what if an international sports superstar isn’t really your type, maybe you want someone a little more brainy? Funny? Feminist?

Vogue put together an alternative list featuring the ten sexiest “unconventional” men and our very own Prime Minister Trudeau made the cut.

He’s listed along side quirky heartthrobs like HBO’s John Oliver and comedian Aziz Ansari, as well as Britain’s boyfriend Benedict Cumberbatch.

These men, the article explores, have qualities stronger than rugged handsomeness and raw sex appeal.

This year’s announcement, anointing sports icon-turned-underwear pinup David Beckham, offers an appealingly populist pick, but feels a touch obvious. With the cultural pendulum (finally) swinging toward a less rigid definition of sex appeal, there’s never been more room for a broader range of options.

“Canadian politician dreamboat” and current Prime Minister Trudeau’s looks were actually a source of mockery for him during the federal election campaign this fall, with Conservatives attacking his “nice hair” in ads.

While some Canadians seem to find the title amusing or even dubious, others seem to be fed up of the focus on the prime mister’s good looks.
