Van Gogh's famous bedroom listed on Airbnb

Those looking for cheap, one-of-a-kind accommodation in Chicago need not look any further than Airbnb. That’s because the bedroom made famous by artist Vincent van Gogh is now available for nightly rental – for $10 a night.

Of course it’s not the real deal, only an astoundingly realistic replica of the paintings.

“This room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting,” the description reads. “It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.”

The host of the Airbnb ad is named Vincent and features a portrait of the long deceased artist.

“I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint,” reads the ad’s description. “However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago.”

The apartment, located in the city’s River North neighbourhood, was created by the Art Institute of Chicago. The museum happens to have a show featuring all three versions the famous paintings depicting the room once inhabited by the artist while he was living in Arles, France.

A spokeswoman for the museum said dates for the space were filled minutes after being announced.
