Video captures the horrifying moment a neighbour chops down man's door with a machete

Let's just call this one "when neighbours go bad."

Twain Thomas of Pocatello, Idaho, was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week after chopping through his neighbour's door with a machete.

The neighbour, James Cvengros, captured the event on camera – including when he stopped Thomas by shooting him three times in the chest.

According to the Idaho State Journal, It all happened last February. Thomas broke the windows out of his own apartment and broke into another apartment on the second floor. A resident in the unit chased Thomas out, which is when he went down to the Cvengros apartment.

Cvengros told Thomas to leave and warned that he had a gun, but that didn't stop Thomas from destroying the door with his machete. When Thomas continued to approach Cvengros and his girlfriend in the apartment, Cvengros fired three shots.

Cvengros told court it was the second time that Thomas had broken into his apartment. The first incident, in which Thomas kicked in the door because of loud music, propted Cvengros to purchase the weapon.

Thomas apologized to his victims on Thursday.

"I know they were terrified," he said.
