Video shows elderly couple nearly swept away by waves

An elderly couple is reportedly unharmed after a harrowing video shot earlier this week shows them nearly getting swept away by giant waves.

Posted Monday on YouTube, the video shows a man in a yellow jacket taking in the giant waves on a beach in Portsall, France. As he walks to leave, a couple, said to be in their 70s, approaches and the waves get bigger and more forceful.

The elderly man is knocked over by a swell of water and falls backwards, as the waves suck him in. His companion screams and frantically runs after him. The man in the yellow jacket is seen running after the pair, as the elderly man is tossed about in the water.

Soon they are both being whipped around the current as the man in the yellow jacket tries to track them. The waves eventually settle down and the couple tries to regain their footing on the sand. The man in the yellow jacket attempt to help them up, but they are all hit by another giant wave, which sweeps them up the shore.

The video ends there, but reports say the pair were eventually rescued and taken to hospital. Major storms have been battling the coastline of France since the weekend.
