Vigilante puts out his foot to help stop a suspect

Police in London caught a fleeing suspect with the help of a vigilante bystander who ever so casually put out his foot for them.

Kingston police released a video showing a man in a black jacket running away from police. A bystander who the suspect runs towards is shown outstretching his leg, which the man then trips over. Without wasting time, the police on foot jump on the suspect, pinning him down. The tripper walks away with a woman on his arm, but looks back at the scene unfolding.

Police released the 11-second video, along with a thank you to the anonymous man who helped them out, calling him a legend.

“Thank you to the member of public that recently helped @MPSGroveSNT during a foot chase! #TrippedUp #Legend,” read the tweet.

According to ITV, the suspect was a 17-year-old drug dealer and has since been detained. After someone tweeted concern that the heroic and smooth bystander would be charged with assault, police wrote back that this wouldn’t be the case.

“Section 3 Criminal Law Act protects those who assist in an arrest,” they wrote.
