Sergei Polunin is about to take you to church.
In a viral video, the 25-year-old Ukrainian tattooed “bad boy” of ballet — and former British Royal Ballet principal dancer — performs a stunning routine, choreographed by Jade Hale-Christofi, to Hozier’s moving anthem in a tree-surrounded, empty church-like studio.
The video was directed by photographer David LaChapelle.
At just 19, Polunin became the youngest-ever appointed principal dancer in the Royal Ballet. He quit two years later.
He’s currently a principal dancer with the The Stanislavsky Music Theatre in Moscow and the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Novosibirsk.
Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” is currently sitting at the Number 3 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Hozier might want to recruit Polunin for his next official music video. We’d watch.
