Windsor man loses his left leg – again

Windsor man has prosthetic leg stolen

A thief in Windsor, Ontario might be wondering what to do with the loot from a robbery on Sunday after leaving with the homeowner's left leg.

CBC reported Randy Curtis was sleeping when his wife heard someone in the house and awoke him. He reached for his prosthetic leg to get out of bed, but it was gone. Curtis lost his leg in a motorcycle accident at 18, according to the story, therefore he uses the prosthetic valued at $5,000.

Curtis told the broadcaster he had forgotten to lock his patio door before bed. He suspects the thief came in, found his pants with his wallet and his leg inside, and took off with all of it.

A bottle of prescription painkillers was also missing, according to the CBC. The suspect is reportedly black and aged 20 to 30.

A man in Santa Ana, California recently found himself in a similar predicament when someone stole his prosthetic leg along with his truck.

ABC News reported Juan Hernandez had left his leg in the truck and travelled by wheelchair while visiting an amusement park in late May. When he returned, the truck and the leg, worth about $50,000, were both missing.

Limbs might not be the strangest items stolen lately. Thieves stole 1,000 ducklings from a farm supplier in Britain over the weekend, according to the BBC. In Sacramento, someone recently stole 200 pieces of mail only to drop them again onto a bike trail.
