Woman gives birth on plane, names baby after airline company

A pregnant woman who received some much needed help during a flight decided to show her appreciation by naming her newborn son after the airline company who assisted her.

As BuzzFeed reports, a couple travelling on Jet Star Asia flight RK583 from Singapore to Myanmar found themselves in quite the dilemma after the mother-to-be suddenly went into labour thousands of feet in the air.

A mid-air birth is not an ideal situation, but the flight crew thought fast and immediately sprang into action.

According to a Facebook post made by the airline, Jet Star Customer Service Manager Mr. Saw Ler Htu began to assist the woman and call out for medical assistance.

Three doctors on-board the flight tended to the pregnant woman, and after landing down in Yangon, Myanmar, were able to successfully deliver the baby boy inside the aircraft safe and sound.

Weighing in at six pounds seven ounces, the birth was reportedly met with a round of thunderous applause from fellow passengers there to witness the miracle of birth.

Looking to show her gratitude, the mother officially named her child Saw Jet Star, after both the airline and employee who helped in her time of need.

The company was overjoyed to hear about the delivery of its youngest ever passenger, and to show its appreciation Jet Star will be donating $1000 Singapore dollars worth of baby supplies to the family.
