Dellen Millard’s property wrapped up in Timothy Bosma investigation

Dellen Millard’s property wrapped up in Timothy Bosma investigation

He is staying silent, except to pronounce his innocence, and his lawyer has said he is too wealthy to be behind what appears to be a theft-gone-wrong, but Dellen Millard and his small empire of southern Ontario property continues to be heavily wrapped up in an investigation into the death of Timothy Bosma.

The Toronto Star reported on Thursday that an incinerator was found on a farm belonging to Millard, who inherited control of a family aviation company when his father died in 2012.

Hamilton Staff Sgt. Matt Kavanagh told the Star that forensic units are trying to determine if the incinerator is connected to Bosma's death. Police previously said the 32-year-old father was found on a property connected to Millard and had been burned beyond recognition.

Timothy Bosma was last seen alive 10 days ago, when he left his Ancaster, Ont., farm to take two men on a test drive in his Dodge Ram truck.

A week later, Bosma's body was discovered in the Waterloo Region and police announced that the suspect Millard would be charged with first-degree murder. At least two other suspects remain outstanding.

Millard has said very little during his time in custody, but lawyer Deepak Paradkar has said he intends to plead not guilty. Paradkar said there was more to the story that hasn't come out and that his client, was wealthy and did not need to steal a truck.

"He's a very unassuming, humble person. He's intelligent, well-educated and financially well off, so there's no motive here," Paradkar said, according to CBC News.

Certainly more of the story is yet to come out because the public currently knows very little about what led to the death of Bosma, a private contractor who left behind a two-year-old daughter.

On Thursday, his widow Sharlene came forward and, in what seemed like a moment of personal embarrassment, asked the public for financial help.

“I have a beautiful two-year-old girl at home who now needs her mommy to hold it together, so I know that I cannot fall apart. But I am broken because part of me is gone," she said before details of a trust fund were released.

It contrasts strongly with what the public has come to know about Millard, the CEO of Millardair Inc., an aviation company started by his grandfather in the 1960s. His family business includes an airplane hangar at the Waterloo airport that was recently renovated at a cost in the "upper seven" figures, Paradkar told the Star.

The newspaper also reports that Millard inherited several pieces of property, including an Etobicoke home, and was listed as the owner of a Mississauga home that sold in 2008 for nearly$800,000. The Star says he bought property in Waterloo two years ago for $835,000.

Police tape currently surrounds most of that property and, with only a fraction of this tragic story currently in focus, there are many more chapters to write before we understand what happened before Bosma’s death.
