Daily BrewLuka Magnotta on flight back to Canada with police escort
Accused killer Luka Magnotta is on a flight back to Canada from Berlin, Germany, escorted by Montreal police according to news reports.
A spokesman for Berlin's prosecutor's office believes Magnotta will be extradited today to Canada.
But Martin Steltner says he could not yet confirm it.
Authorities would also not confirm a CBC report that said Magnotta was already aboard a Royal Canadian Air Force plane en route to Canada.
Magnotta was arrested in a Berlin Internet cafe on June 6 and was being held under guard while Canadian authorities applied to have him extradited.
Magnotta is suspected of dismembering Chinese university student Jun Lin and mailing his body parts across the country, as well as videotaping the incident.
