‘Rob Ford is like your drunk uncle:’ Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and David Letterman love Toronto’s mayor

Crack admissions, police investigations and an epic series of loutish behaviour has been enough to make Toronto Mayor Rob Ford a mainstay on U.S. comedy shows over the past few weeks, and last night was no exception.

On a day that began with Ford making vulgar and offensive comments about oral sex and his wife, was it any doubt late-night hosts would jump back onto the collapse of Toronto's mayor? No, there was no doubt.

Of course, much of the comedy came from simply showing video of the mayor doing all the things he has been doing, so the punchlines are comparatively weak.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, who has offered some of the best commentary on Ford's ongoing series of "WTF" moments, commented on the latest allegations against Ford, released in police documents, calling him a "one-man episode of Cops".

He then aired the infamous Ford interview in which he describes in graphic detail a sex act he performs on his wife (and allegedly only his wife), at which point the crowd basically lost control of their faculties for twenty seconds.

Stewart added: "Let me beg you, sir. Let me beg you. Mayor Rob Ford, let that be your last statement. Throw down the mic. Let that be your last statement of your entire career in public service. Because that is what we call in my business a 'closer.'"

Jimmy Kimmel also reveled in the lastest Canadian craziness.

"He has provided me with so much entertainment tonight, I feel like I should pay him a subscription fee like HBO," Kimmel quipped. "Rob Ford is like your drunk uncle, who is fun, but you are just getting old enough to understand why your parents never let him take you anywhere by himself."

Jimmy Fallon was a little more on the nose. Fallon addressed city council's attempt to have Ford take a leave of absence from city hall.

He said, "When asked what he would do with his time off Ford replied, 'Probably smoke a lot of crack. Stop asking me questions. I just keep getting in more trouble.'"

Jay Leno appeared to be the only U.S. comedian to realize that Coun. Doug Ford was as big a punchline as his brother.

Leno aired a portion of an interview between Doug Ford and CNN, and superimposed in an actor portraying the inebriated mayor fighting with a candy machine in the background.

Hey, it's Leno. It's not funny, but at least he's trying.

Finally, David Letterman also made hay about the eight-second delay Ford offered before admitting to buying illegal drugs in the past two years.

His Top 10 list profiled what was going through Ford's mind at the time. Here is the list:

10: “Is he talking to me?”

9: “Oops.”

8: “Yes and I’d like some now.”

7: “What would a crack-smoking Winston Churchill say?”

6: “No questions about Newfoundland?”

5: “I don’t remember, you should be talking to my crack dealer.”

4: “I’m not an addict, I’m just stupid.”

3: “Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack.”

2: “What answer gets me to Dairy Queen fastest?”

1: “Help me, Canadian Jesus.”

Rim shot, applause, fade to commercial.

The Rob Ford Show will be back after these messages.
