Teacher Jacques Tremblay, author of teen sex novel, may return to the classroom

When a teacher publishes a book, it's an accomplishment that also reflects well on his or her school.

But parents at one Kingston high school have quite a different opinion about the literary efforts of one of its faculty members. And as QMI Agency reports, they're not too happy that Jacques Tremblay could possibly return to his teaching post.

Tremblay, a French-language technology teacher at Ecole Secondaire Publique Mille-Iles, was placed on a year-long authorized leave last October after co-authoring an erotic teen novel with his wife and son.

The Sexteens and the Fake Goddess, published in 2008, conjures up a series of graphic sexual encounters involving Grade 9 students at a fictional Toronto high school.

One scene in particular involves a threesome between two teachers and a student. Another depicts a sexual assault.

Art from the book's social media page features a topless male and female, backs turned to the reader, gazing upon the CN Tower.

According to the novel's Facebook page, its goal is to teach students "what [they] will never learn in school."

Though part of that extracurricular knowledge, according to the page's description, includes "find[ing] out the importance to love yourself, to manage your life, to think by yourself and make your own choices and decisions," it's the sexual content involving young teens that has parents worried about Tremblay's possible reinstatement.

Marilyne Guevremont, spokesperson for the Conseil des ecoles publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario, told QMI that parents have starting asking whether the controversial teacher will be back in the classroom come September now that his one-year suspension is almost over.

"We understand the parents are concerned about the situation," she said. "But the school board management is taking the case very seriously."

As the investigation into Tremblay's activities is still pending, Guevremont said she could not comment further; however, she added that parents at the high school will remain informed.

If he does, in fact, get fired, Tremblay would not be the first teacher let go for his steamy literary output.

Pennsylvania middle school English teacher Judy Buranich lost her post after parents discovered her second career as a romance novelist.

Another teacher in the UK was fired after writing a classroom novel that detailed her students' sexual fantasies.

And while they didn't co-author a book, two Winnipeg teachers were let go after video of the pair performing a lap dance at a school pep rally went viral.
