Daily BrewTop Perseid meteor shower photos on Flickr
Every August, stargazers marvel at little bits of comet debris slashing the night sky. This year's Perseid meteor shower dazzled on Friday and Saturday nights, despite the light of the full moon. The rock star of all showers, the Perseid often offers the most impressive displays as bits of the comet Swift-Tuttle speed into earth's atmosphere at roughly 60 kilometers per second.
During this year's shower, stargazers from around the world reported spotting up to 20 meteors per hour. Some great photos are showing up online on Flickr. Here are some of the best so far.
