Toronto mayor releases ‘Summer of Ford’ video celebrating himself

According to a spectacularly propaganda-like video currently broadcasting at Toronto City Hall, Mayor Rob Ford has had an extremely fun and successful summer.

Ford's office released a poignant video on Friday, celebrating the city's successful summer and more specifically the mayor’s role in it all.

Ford tweeted out a link to the video, titled "Summer of Ford" and it is currently being streamed on a massive big-screen television in the window of Ford's office at City Hall.

Set to music, the nearly three-minute video highlights the delights of the past few months, all those successful moments like fishing with Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, arm wrestling Hulk Hogan and his annual Ford Fest party.

Missing from the video are scenes of the mayor ducking questions about an alleged crack video, images from the aforementioned alleged crack video, infamous public appearances in which a stumbling mayor appears to be intoxicated, or a montage of all the staff members resigning from his office over the summer.

Check it out.

The video is a masterpiece of self-aggrandizement, in the vein of government-released photos of a topless Vladimir Putin riding a horse and pretty much anything coming out of North Korea.

For those offended by such extreme comparisons, it also shows like a high school class president campaign video edited by someone who just drank two Red Bulls and a Five Hour Energy shot.

For those of us who enjoy the Summer of Ford video, strap in. The city’s next election is still a year away and Ford is already in campaign mode. Undoubtedly this is just the beginning of a solid collection.

Still, I’d pay anything to see the outtakes.
