Vegans in lettuce bikinis crash Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s charity weigh-in

Toronto's mayor had some unexpected visitors at his latest weigh-in, as part of his "Cut the Waist" challenge. Two PETA activists showed up in lettuce bikinis, suggesting that the mayor may want to consider trying out a vegan diet.

Ford declined. You can see how he reacted to the intrusion in this CBC video.

Ford weighed in at 312 pounds on Monday, gaining one pound since his weigh-in last week. In the past, the mayor has described himself as "300 pounds of fun," although he began the challenge in January at 330 lbs. Ford has been participating in the six-month challenge with his brother and city councilor, Doug Ford, who began the challenge at 275 lbs and has lost 27 lbs.

Mayor Ford is aiming to lose 50 lbs in total by June, but with only a little over two months left, Ford doesn't have much time to get there. The public monitoring of his progress has also been a little spotty, having cancelled both the April 10 and March 26 weigh-ins.

"It's a challenge," said Ford at his weigh in on April 16, the CBC reports. "Trying to get out at night and running, it's a challenge."

Toronto residents are invited to join in the weight-loss challenge as well. Participants can sign up at www.cutthewaist.ca, where you can also track the mayor's and councilor's progress.
