Chris Hadfield demonstrates ‘shave and a haircut’ in space

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield shows what spinach in space looks like when it is still dehydrated (right) and ready to eat after rehydration (left) in a space cooking lesson during his Expedition 35 mission in March 2013.

In his continuing efforts to show us what it's like to live as a 'spaceling' aboard the International Space Station, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has already given us videos on how to brush your teeth and clip your fingernails. Now he's adding hair care to the roster.

A month ago, as of today, he posted a video with the help of ISS Flight Engineer Evgeny Tarelkin, who gave Chris a haircut using what looks like a spaced-out version of something from 'Wayne's World'.

Today, he's followed up with how astronauts shave:

I assume that Chris' last comment about his mustache means that he has to use the same setup that Evgeny Tarelkin used on him for the haircut last month.

It's fascinating to see just how much extra thought has to go into these normal, everyday, routine parts of life, because the astronauts and cosmonauts have to be very careful about what gets into the air. It just goes to show how much we take gravity for granted.
