Millions in funding announced in Tuesday's federal budget have been set aside for the proposed Ojibway National Urban Park in Windsor, Ont.The budget unveiled in Ottawa proposes to provide $36.1 million over five years starting in 2024-25 and "$4.6 million per year ongoing" for the park. A man has been charged in the stabbing death of a woman in South Vancouver in early April.Vancouver resident Gertrude Cheong, 49, died after she was found by police lying on the ground near Fraserview Golf Course, early on April 3.Officers had responded to reports of screams and a person lying on Rosemont Drive around 6 a.m. PT, according to Insp. Coral Harbour, Nunavut, elects new mayor in byelection
Patterk Netser has been elected mayor of Coral Harbour, Nunavut.Netser, who was ousted from Nunavut's cabinet in 2020 over controversial social media posts that same year, won a byelection held in the community on Monday. He beat three other candidates by collecting 85 votes.The other candidates included Willie Nakoolak, who received 61 votes; Aidan Saviakjuk, who received 49 votes; and Lenny Emiktaut, who received five votes.Voter turnout was 43 per cent, according to Elections Nunavut.Netser's

Katsi'tsakwas (Ellen Gabriel), a Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) artist, filmmaker and activist, is the first Indigenous artist to win a prestigious Montreal arts prize.The Grand Prix of the Conseil des arts de Montréal launched in 1985.
