Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham defies laws of gravity in wheelchair
"Backflips for breakfast, I guess."
Aaron (Wheelz) Fotheringham, from Las Vegas, Nev., was born with spina bifida, a neural tube defect which left him unable to use his legs.
When he was eight years old, a trip to a skate park changed Fotheringham's life. He was hooked.
Today, the 21-year-old is a gravity-defying wheelchair motocross athlete, competing — and often winning — BMX freestyle events, wowing crowds with his famous double back flips, and inspiring others to see their "own challenges in a new way."
According to his website, "Aaron enjoys showing young kids with disabilities that a wheelchair can be a toy, not a restriction."
