Nearly a decade has passed since Prince Harry last saw the orphan boy he befriended on his gap-year trip to the southern African nation of Lesotho.

After meeting then four-year-old Mutsu Potsane, the prince was inspired to set up his own charity called Sentebale to provide long-term support to children, who have lost their parents, New Zealand Herald reports.

Harry and his life-long friend were finally reunited during the official opening of Sentebale’s new Mamohato Children’s Centre in Lesotho.

The two became pen pals and wrote to each other frequently over the years, according to the Kensington Royal Instagram account.

Ahead of the opening ceremony and the reunion, the 15-year-old’s latest written-letter to the prince was released on Instagram. It has since has garnered thousands of likes.

In his letter, Postane writes that he is doing well and is “thinking about” the prince.

“I think of the time were together, it was the good and nice day,” he says. “Every day when I am sleeping I always dream about you and the things we have made such as planting of the trees which is the peach trees.”

At the ceremony, Postane greeted the prince with a huge smile and hug.

“Behind those smiles it was clear they desperately needed care, attention and above all, love,” the prince told the orphans and guests gathered at the centre’s opening ceremony, Metro reports.

“Although our situations couldn’t have been more different, I felt an overwhelming connection to many of the children I met,” Harry continued.

“We shared a similar feeling of loss, having a loved one, in my case a parent, snatched away so suddenly.”
