The Mounties have an adorable problem — and they need Canadian kids' help to solve it.
They have 10 German shepherd puppies in need of names.
In an annual puppy-naming contest, the Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail, Alta., is asking kids to submit name suggestions. Children who submit one of the chosen 10 names will receive an 8x10 photo of the puppy they named, a plush dog named Justice and an RCMP cap.
According to the contest website:
"Children are encouraged to be original and imaginative in finding names that will serve these puppies well in their careers with Canada's national police force. When thinking of names, it is important to keep in mind that these are working police dogs, not pets."
Submission rules state that each dog name entered in the contest must start with a "G" and have no more than two syllables with nine letters. Contestants must live in Canada and be 16 years old or younger.
"We love to receive drawings and paintings! If submitting by mail or email, children are invited to get creative with their entries," the RCMP wrote.
The contest runs until March 5. The chosen names will be announced on April 15.
