B.C. teen saves pet dog from ‘terrifying’ cougar attack

A teen saves his dog Daisy from vicious cougar in Belcarra, B.C.

Daisy the black labrador is lucky to be alive, and it's all thanks to his brave 16-year-old owner.

The dog is currently recovering from a "terrifying" cougar attack in Belcarra, B.C.

On Tuesday night, Levi Sadler, 16, heard his dog screaming outside his window.

"It was terrifying, like a scream you hear in movies, coming from a dog," he told CBC News. "When I looked over, the cougar had its mouth completely around her neck. All I saw were Daisy's legs kicking and screaming."

Sadler acted fast and jumped out the window, screaming at the cougar.

At first the cougar ran off — and then it returned with a vengeance, lunging at Sadler.

"It almost clawed me. I felt the paws pass by my ear. I thought he'd cut my jugular to be honest. It was the most terrifying thing I've ever endured," he said.

Sadler dove back through his window, injuring his head, but escaping a far worse fate.

"My blood was pumping so much. I wouldn't have even cared if I was hurt. I was trying to get Daisy out of there," he told CBC News.

Sadler's father, Jason, heard his son and dog screaming and came running, prompting the cougar to finally leave the scene for good.

Daisy received 100 stitches and is now recovering at home.

Earlier this month, a dog named Vicious was inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame for saving his owner from a cougar attack in her B.C. home.
