When his wife died last year, Leahy decided that he needed a hobby to distract him from his grief. A long-time joke-teller, Leahy cracked up guests with a 30-minute comedy routine at his 90th birthday party.

His son, Steve, says the funny stories helped him book his first real gig.

"He actually did about half an hour at his 90th birthday party, and someone saw him there who wanted to book him," Steve Leahy told WSYR-TV. "There's been other interest for him to do shows and he has endless material."

The self-described "sit-down comic" — "Because I'm too old to stand up," he explains — opened for Kelly Kinsella's one-woman show, "When Thoughts Attack," where the crowd of 500 warmly applauded the hilarious nonagenarian.
