It was a very special moment for a very special question.
Tamara Bruzzo, 24, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma just over a year ago, and she’s had to endure six, 96-hour long infusion sessions.
Her supporting boyfriend, Lucas D’Onofrio, stood by her side the entire time. Even shaving his head to show his loving support.
On her last chemo session, D’Onofrio throws her a surprise proposal at the hospital.
In the video posted on Youtube, the hospital room is decorated with balloons and candles as D’Onofrio waits for his girlfriend holding a boutique of red roses. The “Thinking Out Loud” tune from Ed Sheeran plays in the background as Bruzzo entires the room holding her IV machine.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you. I know we are meant to be since six years ago,” said D’Onofrio in the video. “God gave us another chance,” he added while holding his girlfriend’s hand.
Tearing up and holding her hand over her mouth, Bruzzo said yes. As planned, fireworks went off outside the hospital’s windows.
Family, friends and staff at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida helped with the preparations and kept it a secret.
“I wanted it to be a symbol or closing the chapter of cancer in her life and opening a new chapter with our lives together,” Lucas told BuzzFeed.
As for Bruzzo’s health, her boyfriend said “they are sure this is her last chemo session.”
The video has since gone viral with over 150,000 views on Youtube.
