Curtis Elton, 9, becomes youngest degree-level pianist in the world

While some 9-year-old piano players are just learning their scales, one youngster is ready to share his interpretations of classical pieces with the world.

British schoolboy Curtis Elton, 9, is releasing his first album.

The London-based piano prodigy started playing the piano at the age of 3 and is now the youngest-ever pianist with a university-level piano certification. He recently gained his ATCL diploma, the equivalent to the first year of a degree.

Last year, at the age of 8, Curtis broke records by passing his Grade 8 piano exam, the qualification required to study music at a post-secondary institution.

His album, entitled "Daydreams," which will be released in November, will include interpretations of works by Mozart and Bach.

Just because he's reached a musical milestone musicians twice his age work hard to attain doesn't mean he doesn't have even bigger dreams for his music:

"I want to play Carnegie Hall and also Royal Albert Hall when I’m older, and also play in front of a queen," Curtis told ITV News.

Curtis isn't the only prodigy in the family. His mother, Hayley Elton, a concert pianist, was the youngest person ever accepted to the Guildhall School of Music. She was 8.

Hayley Elton will also feature on Curtis' 10-track album.

"He loves to entertain, he's a performer," Hayley Elton told the London Evening Standard. "We have always enjoyed playing together and wanted to collaborate on a project that we'll be able to remember for years to come."
