The Dream Room Project gives Winnipeg boy with cerebral palsy a hockey-themed bedroom

Zach Kuffel, 6, has cerebral palsy.

And while he often struggles to communicate, one things he makes very clear: he loves hockey.

Non-profit group The Dream Room Project recently gave the Winnipeg boy the hockey-themed bedroom of his dreams.

"He is probably the biggest hockey fan in Winnipeg," Zach's mom, Janique Messner, told CBC News. "He's very obsessed with hockey."

The volunteer- and donation-driven charity, founded by Wanda Luna, brings in local artists to paint murals in bedrooms for children and families dealing with traumatic experiences.

Zach's room was the charity's 21st redone bedroom.

"It's phenomenal. What they are doing for any kid that has struggles right? It's not just kids with disabilities. It's any kid that has any kind of struggle — bullying, anything," said Messner.

"It does something to you to see kids light up, and it means a lot to me," said Luna. "It is quite magical."
