After exchanging 3,000 letters over 74 years, pen-pals finally meet

As part of a school project 74 years ago, Audry Sims and Norma "Kitty" Frati became pen-pals.

Sims, 83, lives in Perth, Australia. Frati, 87, lives near Corpus Christi, Texas.

This week, after exchanging more than 3,000 letters since childhood, the long-distance friends finally met. Sims and her three daughters met Frati at Corpus Christi International Airport.

"I think we've got parallel families. We both married and divorced and then married and had children, and it’s sort of almost the same," Sims told KHOU.

Frati added that they also share a love for flowers and gardening.

They plan to keep writing letters.

Earlier this month, message-in-a-bottle pen-pals met after 34 years.
