With one simple act of kindness, a German toddler appears to have won countless hearts across the world.

At the Munich Fairgrounds this week, the first group of refugees were greeted by the locals with cheers, water and backpacks filled with clothes, NBC News reports.

Among the group of Germans was a little girl, who shared her sweet treat with a newly arrived young refugee.

NBC News reporter, Cassandra Vinograd, captured the heartwarming exchange between the two toddlers on video, which has been viewed on Vine some 1,780,000 times and received more than 1,000 shares on Twitter.

“This sweet moment… A young German girl and a newly arrived young refugee,” the reporter captioned the short clip.

The unidentified girl appears to hand over her candy to the little refugee as their mothers look on smiling.

Vinograd has been capturing the arrival of refugees in Germany, where many fleeing their war-torn countries have been greeted with food and temporary accommodations before moving onto processing centres.

A local Italian pizzeria heard about the thousands being housed on the fairgrounds and came by to offer some free pizza and pasta to the refugees.

“We are giving a warm welcome to these people today,” said Simone Hilgers, spokeswoman for Upper Bavaria government, reports the Huffington Post. “We realize it’s going to be a big challenge but everybody, the authorities and ordinary citizens, are pulling together.”

Germany has taken in the highest number of refugees in Europe, according to Albawaba.com.

The country has welcomed 8,000 migrants so far, and is expected to take several thousand more; close to 800,000 by year’s end.
