Good Samaritans rescue woman in submerged SUV

On Tuesday afternoon, 28-year-old Nicole Glazier lost control of her car and plunged into the Intracoastal Waterway in Dunedin, Florida.

Glazier's 2001 Ford Explorer landed in four feet of water.

Good Samaritan John Thorington, who was visiting in a friend's backyard nearby, saw the accident and rushed to Glazier's aid, pulling her from her vehicle to safety.

"She had the window rolled down and she was trying to get out, but she was kind of rattled," Thorington said. "I calmed her down a little bit, and we brought her on out."

Christopher Leibrecht, who lives across the street from where Glazier ended up, also ran out to help.

"He handed her to me from one side and I pulled her out the window. I saw a child's car seat, so I kept asking the woman to make sure there were no other passengers in the car," Leibrecht said.

"She asked, 'What happened?' She was in shock and didn't really know what had happened to her," Leibrecht told ABC Action News.

"It was a nice Valentine's Day for me to do something that was a little bit different."

Glazier was alone in the vehicle, on her way to pick up her child from daycare. The young mom was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene, then taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Deputies are investigating what caused Glazier to lose control of her vehicle.
